A new tactic for self-doubt

I’m trying something new today to combat self-doubt and procrastination.

You know that thing parents do where they tell their kids they can’t hear them if they use a whining voice?

In a similar vein I’m telling my overthinking, self-doubting mind that I can’t hear it if it’s not also taking action.

I’m confident that in virtually all real world situations taking action is an optimal strategy for me vs thinking more about taking action (this isn’t universally true but it’s universally true for people who habitually overthink).

This new policy forces me to be taking some best guess action toward some goal before entertaining any self-doubt… which inevitably leads to a chain of more action, makes me feel more fulfilled, and I suspect will often mean the overanxious mind isn’t so overanxious any more.
