Speed limits

There is no speed limit. You set the pace.

This one lesson has been critical to my success in life and business.

It allowed me to graduate high school at 15, drop out of college to start my first company at 17, and build a multi-million dollar company.

I have so much admiration for this.

My life has some parallels. I started my first business when I was 10 years old. I did some A levels (= UK age 16-18 exams) five years early, at 13 years old.

I strongly agree that you don’t have to stick to society’s norms of what you should do and when.

For me there’s also an opposite lesson, less talked about in business circles, that’s at least as important: there’s no minimum speed.

You set the pace!

Want to take a break? It’s your life, take a break.

Listen to your body.

Avoid burnout.

Move fast with joy, not to find joy; not in search of some kind of salvation or sense of self-worth at the end.

Want to spend time on business? Great.

Want to spend time with family? Great.

Get good at knowing what you want.

Know how to race. And know how to stop, breathe, appreciate, experience, love.
