Release

No external situation or circumstance or event can make you feel an emotion.

It simply triggers an emotion that was already trapped within you.

It’s a great opportunity. Because depending on what you do next, you now have a chance to release that trapped emotion from who-knows-when.

It’s the same with sad songs. They don’t make you feel sad. They help your connect with existing sadness.

Through that lens, any challenging situation that comes your way really is a blessing.

The emotion was already there. Directing your life, while you called it fate.

And then this external thing (usually person) comes along that makes you feel all this strong emotion. Maybe anger. Anger which was already lurking inside you! And you wish it weren’t happening?? That’s so backwards. That person’s behaviour didn’t make your anger. It’s helping you connect with and feel and release some existing trapped, suppressed anger. Sure, it hurts. But do you really want to keep that anger inside you for longer instead? This person’s behaviour is literally the best thing that could happen to you. It’s given you a chance to release more stuff. It’s the ultimate spiritual growth. All you have to do is let yourself feel it, and it’ll release forever. You’ve just become a better person, thanks to this circumstance. Thank it! Your whole life is a sequence of events like this, perfectly formulated to help you grow, every moment. Why would anyone want to resist that?
