Is it bad to email my list every day?

I hear this question a lot, and there are some strong opinions on each side:

Why sending daily can work great—

1. Subscribers will start to feel like they know you, which makes it easier to get feedback and sales.   2. You stay top of mind of your subscribers.   3. You can deliver more value to your audience, quicker.   4. You level up your writing skills quicker.   5. You’ll have a much more engaged audience: everyone who stays will really care about your content.   6. You’ll build a habit—a lot of daily senders say it quickly becomes easier than writing less often.

But there are some real downsides—

1. It can take more time and effort, at the start.   2. You’ll get unsubscribes: a lot of less engaged subscribers will leave.   3. Even with the ones who don’t unsubscribe, you might struggle with the fear of irritating your subscribers.

It turns out, there’s a best of both worlds—

Send daily, and let subscribers switch to a weekly roundup if they prefer.

You’re currently opted in to my daily emails. If that’s too much, I understand! [Switch to the weekly roundup here.]

That link can go to a preferences page built with something like Smart Subscriber (full disclosure: my product), or a simple ‘trigger link’ is fine too.
