Coincidences

I’ve experiences so many cool coincidences in the last couple of years.

Is this itself just a coincidence? I don’t think so. I think it’s downstream of being more open to following my intuition, being open to what the universe wants, feeling less anxiety and hostility around strangers, not trying to force things.

Michael Singer in The Surrender Experiment talks about experiencing this too.

Some examples:

  • I got chatting to the guy next to me on a plane from London to Denver. It turns out he knows my friend J (who I know from Barbados)—they were even in a meeting together a week or two earlier and J had been reviewing the notes that morning
  • When my friend N visited me in Barbados, we bumped into a client of hers who was also on holiday there
    • And it turned out I already knew that client of hers—we’d had a long chat the week before at a fish market
  • I got chatting with a woman when I was out in Barcelona. It was a particularly fun encounter. When I went to phone one of my best friends in London to relay the funny encounter, it turned out the two of them knew each other from years earlier
  • Got chatting to the guy next to me on a plane from London to Nice. It later turned out his wife is close friends with a friend of mine from Barbados
  • Met a woman in London through a work colleague in NY; it turns out she went to school in England with two friends I know from Barbados
  • When my credit card was expiring while I was abroad and I was told there was no way to get the replacement shipped internationally, I happened to get chatting with a woman in a sports bar who it turns out was Head of Product at the card company. She was immediately able to sort it for me
  • This morning I was on a catamaran in Barbados and heard someone shouting my name. It was a friend on another boat who I hadn’t seen for over 2 years and had no idea was in Barbados
